In response to COVID-19 restriction, we’ve had to temporarily scale back from the 20+ DTSes we usually run each year. Read more about our usual range here or find out about our upcoming October 2021 DTS and January 2022 DTS!
Humility & Hunger DTS is about calling people to live out their lives in intimate worship and humble, committed obedience to the Lord. This school partners with the Humility & Hunger ministry, especially during outreach, to both learn to live lives surrendered, while being equipped to call others to do the same.
We start with 12 weeks of meeting God through discipleship, transformational teaching and corporately within the large, vibrant community of YWAM Perth. We’ll look at topics like faith, worship, hearing God’s voice, spiritual authority and evangelism. It’s not just lectures - learning and growth happens as we meet God together, as we serve, as we take His love to the streets. Our desire is to lean in to the presence of God through a consecrated life, genuine intimacy and whole-hearted response to His call.
God wants to bring His hope, healing and miracles to a hurting world. As believers, we are His agents of change! So on outreach we put into practice all we’ve been learning. Whether it’s an unreached village or a bustling megacity, we meet people where they’re at to share God’s love and hope. Through fervent prayer, personally sharing the gospel, serving the poor and needy, and encouraging local believers, we put faith into action. We get to see God move powerfully through our acts of faith and obedience!
Outreach often includes being a part of Humility & Hunger gatherings where local church youth in nations such as Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines are engaged in a conference-style gathering. These conferences are an amazing way for youth to encounter Jesus in new, dynamic ways and be inspired to be a part of what he is doing in the nations.
We’ll finish up with a celebration week back in Perth, sharing stories of what God has done and getting ready for what He has ahead. Humility & Hunger DTS sets you up for a lifestyle of experiencing His presence firsthand and being a part of His redemptive purposes in the nations.
A DTS opens doors to all kinds of training and missions opportunities! We invite you to get further training at YWAM Perth through courses such as our School of Worship, or join staff to continue the journey of serving Jesus in the nations with an initiative like our Hunger & Humility ministry. At the beginning of our outreach in Manila, the Philippines, we went prayer walking through the streets to get God’s heart for our region. As we walked, we came across a slum on the other side of a tunnel and we felt God’s call to invest into this slum community throughout our outreach. We partnered with the local church and began to clean up the streets, do open-airs and door-to-door evangelism. A large group of boys from the slum gave their lives to the Lord and began to come to church. However, the local church was already at full capacity at their location and so they started meeting every Sunday in the slum to disciple and host Bible studies with the boys. It’s amazing to see God establish a church in this slum through our obedience and to see a group of new believers be discipled in God’s ways by the local church after we left the Philippines.
