Be transformed, discipled and equipped to take the gospel to the nations while learning ways to utilise the World Game to open doors, encourage communities and lead people to Jesus.
The Soccer DTS is an opportunity to grow in your relationship with God. Dynamic discipleship begins during lecture phase within the energetic community of YWAM Perth. The first three months includes teaching designed to be put into practice right away. We’ll look at topics like hearing God’s voice, evangelism, missions, spiritual authority and more. This life changing teaching comes from experienced missionaries and leaders in the body of Christ. You’ll also participate in small groups, intercession, times of evangelistic outreach in Perth, and other activities, with lots of opportunity to play soccer. This may include being a part of a local soccer league or organising soccer camps for youth in the community. We play soccer as a way to have fun and stay fit of course, but the goal during the school is to learn to use it to connect with people, young and old, and then share the love of Jesus with them.
Soccer is uniquely popular all over the world, crossing culture and language. On outreach, the second half of the DTS, there will beso many chances to utilise your skill to draw people to hear about and know Jesus. A game can start on almost any patch of grass or dirt. Sometimes we will organise tournaments, at other times just a simple game, but always looking to connect with people. At times this will be in a slum in India, other times it may be in a field in Central Africa or Indonesia. Wherever God takes us, we are there to minister through acts of compassion and leading people into a relationship with Jesus.
We finish up with a week back in Perth, sharing the stories of the amazing things God has done and looking ahead to what He has next. The goal is for students to finish the school knowing their purpose in the plans of God, strong in relationship with Him, and equipped to serve Him wherever He will next lead them.

For three weeks my (Sports DTS) team was in Cambodia, and we were doing soccer ministry with youth there about five times a week. Each one of those days we would run practices, and share testimonies and stories of Jesus after the soccer training. On the last day, we preached the gospel and did a skit to demonstrate God’s love to them. After we were done, we invited the youth to stay and talk to us if they wanted to know more or give their lives to the Lord. At the very end, all the youth left except for one boy. As his friends were leaving, they were calling him over and laughing at him for staying behind, but he was determined to give his life to Christ. He had some questions, and we answered as best we could and prayed for him. He was so touched by God, and in the midst of peer pressure, he received Jesus that day.
