The beautiful and vibrant continent of Africa is home to more than 1.2 billion souls, many of whom don’t yet know Jesus. For different reasons, there is much need and opportunity for the gospel to flourish. The Africa DTS puts a focus on this amazing region, its people and God’s intentions for it.
During the first half of the school you will receive the core content of the DTS while experiencing our international missions community. We’ll look at topics such as evangelism, hearing God’s voice, prayer and worship, relationships and more. Learning and growth happen in all kinds of ways, such as small group discussion, classroom input, serving in the community, sharing the gospel and more. During these weeks you’ll also be involved in learning to reach out to the thousands of African migrants who have made Perth their home.
On outreach we’ll travel to nations in Africa to work alongside missionaries and local churches to reach out to those who have never heard the gospel and engage in different types of mercy ministry. God want to use us as His hands and feet! We see communities and individuals healed, restored and stepping into their full potential as they encounter God.
We’ll wrap up with a week back in Perth, celebrating all God has done, and getting ready for what He has ahead. Africa DTS is an incredible opportunity to experience God’s heart for the nations of Africa first-hand and get involved with what He’s doing.
A DTS opens doors to all kinds of training and missions opportunities! We invite you to get further training at YWAM Perth through courses such as our School of Frontier Missions, or join staff to continue the journey of serving Jesus in the nations with an initiative like our South Sudan Ministry. We came across an old lady sitting on the ground with a few of her family members. We started to share Jesus with them and asked if they would like relationship with him. They all said no except the old lady. We led her in the prayer of salvation. Then we asked if we could pray for them. The old lady said she was blind because of cataracts. We began to pray and asked if there was a difference. She said she could see blurry things. We kept praying! As I was kneeling in front of her praying, she looked up directly at me. She said she could see me! We prayed again and asked if she could copy what we were doing from a distance. One of our teammates stepped back and waved, the lady waved right back. She could see! We asked if there was anything else we could pray for. She said her legs were very weak and she couldn't really walk. So we prayed for her legs and after a few times she got up and started walking! She even forgot her shoes! She came to the church where we were holding a DTS seminar as well. God is good!
